چکیده

• A combination of mathematical and in vivo models revealed the role vitronectin extracellular matrix-tumor cell interactions high-risk neuroblastoma patients. Vitronectin its ligands can be potential therapeutic targets therapy. Nanoencapsulation etoposide increases efficacy lines. synergistic effect is observed high risk-neuroblastoma cells when cilengitide combined with etoposide/etoposide nanoparticles. Treatment children remains largely unsuccessful due to development metastases drug resistance. The biological complexity these tumors their microenvironment represent one many challenges face. Matrix glycoproteins such as act bridge elements between matrix tumor promote spreading. In this study, we established through a clinical cohort preclinical that interaction ligands, α v integrins, are related stiffness neuroblastoma. These marked alterations found led us specifically target within altered matrices by employing nanomedicine Loading conventional cytotoxic into nanoparticles significantly increased cells. We noted synergy cilengitide, high-affinity cyclic pentapeptide integrin antagonist. results study highlight need characterize cell-extracellular interactions, improve patient care

Targeted therapies to improve tumor immunotherapy.

Durable tumor regression and potential cures of metastatic solid cancers can be achieved by a variety of cellular immunotherapy strategies, including cytokine therapy, dendritic cell-based vaccines, and immune-activating antibodies, when used in so-called immune-sensitive cancers such as melanoma and renal cell carcinoma. However, these immunotherapy strategies have very low tumor response rate...

Targeted therapies for killing tumor cells.

I this issue of PNAS, Su et al. (1) present evidence that transfection and expression of the mda-7 gene in human pancreatic cancer cells combined with antisense inhibition of expression of a mutant K-ras gene results in tumor cell growth suppression and induction of apoptosis. They show that both of these treatments are required for this effect and also indicate that these treatments should not...

EVIDENCE THAT CELL-EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX INTERACTIONS REGULATE DEVELOPMENT AND DIFFERENTIATION Developmental mutations Evidence for the importance of cell-matrix interactions

Differentiation is a continuously regulated process and interactions between the cell and its environment play a major role in maintaining stable expression of differentiation-specific genes (Blau and Baltimore, 1991). An important component of the cellular environment is the extracellular matrix (ECM), which is composed of glycoproteins, proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans that are secreted a...
